EIRO Pharmacist and Dr. Rahm Talk Mangosteen
By · CommentsSo, why no Mangosteen (like Vemma and Xango offer) in EIRO’s Super Antioxidant product? A great question and one that was posed to EIRO’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Rahm and related to us via EIRO Pharmacist:
I continually get asked why mangosteen was not included in the Eiro formula. Here are my thoughts in an email that I have sent out numerous times:
In the post: http://www.eiropharmacist.com/?p=421 Dr. Rahm explains the criteria used in choosing which fruits were to be included. Mangosteen was considered. Here is why it was not included.
- First there had to be a reliable and sustainable source of the fruit. Although there are numerous reliable sources of Mangosteen, the harvesting techniques are not always sustainable and there is very little quality control over the agricultural processes used. (pesticides, fertilizers, etc.)
- There has to be a favorable impact on the local people where the fruits are harvested. Again, little quality control regarding Mangosteen.
- Taste. The “good stuff” from Mangosteen comes from the rind, not the pulp. It is extremely difficult, when using a whole fruit puree of mangosteen, to make it taste good without adding something artificial, ie. sweeteners, flavors. Mangosteen puree is hard to preserve without adding some kind of chemical preservative. (Not holding to Eiro’s philosophy if you add chemicals)
- The phytochemical profile of mangosteen is covered by the other 5 fruits, so it had little to offer.
Get Your Acai In Whole Food Form Without Preservatives

While there is little debate about whether Super Fruits such as Acai, Caja and Camu Camu are good for you, there is some debate about how best to deliver these fruits to the consumer.
At EIRO, we believe that maintaining the integrity of the whole fruit is the key to getting the most benefit out of the fruit. We use a proprietary process that has to do with extracting the oxygen out of the fruit, allowing us to accomplish two things:
1. Maintain the integrity of the whole fruit (without freeze drying).
2. No preservatives.
Let’s look at preservatives…
Most liquid nutritional products, including Xango and MonaVie contain Sodium Benzoate.
In 2007, the Food Standards Agency of England found that Sodium Benzoate contributes to cell damage linked to aging and degenerate diseases like Parkinson’s. (Source)
Sodium Benzoate has also been linked to hyperactivity and other behavioral problems in children. (Source)
The FSA urges that companies find alternative ways to preserve their products.
It’s pretty ironic that a product such as MonaVie is touted as having incredible anti-aging benefits, yet the preservative they use has shown to do exactly the opposite in studies.

Coming in July to Barnes and Noble, Borders and other book and magazine stores, EIRO Research will be featured in Your Business At Home Magazine. EIRO’s Your Business At Home feature is unique in the direct selling industry as the first company to be featured while still in pre-launch. EIRO officially launches in October of 2009.
Having the official launch of EIRO in October has not held back the growth of this new company.
“EIRO is operating as if it has been in business for over five years. The products ship quickly and the bonuses are paid on time, every time”, says Jody Courtney, EIRO Legacy Partner and $5,000 Pre-Launch Promotion Earner.
In addition to the great EIRO associate success stories in Your Business At Home, the magazine features an article by Dr. Oz talking about the importance of consuming whole foods, (like EIRO’s SuperAntiOxidant) because of the way your body functions, allowing you to feel better, healthier and even lose weight in the process.
